Dealing with Annoying People

No man is an island. Our lives won’t be fulfilling without the company of good friends and the presence of our loving families. As we grow up, we get to meet different people who will somehow have an impact on our lives. Some of them might be those from your neighborhood, school, workplace, or Presbyterian church in Phoenix.

While there are people who will be constants in your life, there will always be a time when you meet people who get on your nerves. As they say, your life will not be that colorful without these kinds of people. These people can be a classmate, a co-worker, a reckless driver who almost collides with your car, and even a relative.

How to deal with people who annoy you

Nobody is perfect. If only we get to meet people and be friends with everyone without feeling stabbed in the back. Unfortunately, there will be people out there whom you find annoying. Worse, there might be people who attempt to ruin your testimony through their malicious actions.

Just as there are people who make your blood boil upon seeing them, think about this: what if there are people who are also annoyed with you? If you find out that a person doesn’t like you, what will you do?

You might say that interacting with them without ill feelings is easier said than done. But there are times when you have no choice but to do so anyway. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you how you will handle this kind of situation in your everyday life.

These pointers can help you deal with these kinds of people. At the same time, they might help change your life for the better.

1. Accept reality.

As much as we like to be good friends with everyone we meet, it will not always happen. The simplest thing to do is to accept the fact that you can’t please everybody – and it’s completely fine. It’s not your fault why there are people who don’t seem to jive in terms of personality and interests. More importantly, never change who you are to please other people.

2. Try to see things in a positive light.

It can be hard to stay positive if you are already annoyed with that person in the first place. However, you can try looking at things in another light. They might not be trying to annoy you after all but just trying to fix things in their own way, although you might agree with them. Let them do their thing. Who knows? It might work.

3. Be a better person.

It can be tempting sometimes to confront that annoying person. But please, control your emotions and try to understand why they are acting that way. Respect people from all walks of life, whether they deserve it or not. Be objective. If you do get annoyed, be angry with the wrongdoing, not the person who did it.

It’s not every day that you meet people from all walks of life. However, there will always be at least one person who will annoy you for some reason. It’s up to you how you will handle these kinds of people. It should be you who controls the quality of your life, not anyone else.
